XS650 Charging Systems, Fully HHB Tested and Approved, our Updated PMA System is what these bikes have been begging for all along!
Now Available as an updatable System:
- STAGE 1 – HHB Charging System ONLY: (Think of our standard PMA Kits, only better! – Same Function as Before with the ability to later add HHB Ignition) with MOSFET Regulator Technology Now Standard (Was a $129 Upgrade Previously) – this is the best way to go with modern lighting and batteries (LED, Lithium, etc) while still working for OEM type lighting and batteries as well. Its a one size fits all upgrade for your XS650’s Charging System that those other guys don’t offer. Fits ALL XS650′ Engines, XS1, XS2
- STAGE 2 – HHB Ignition System ONLY: This adds a 100% Crank Driven Ignition to your XS650 (When equipped with Stage 1) utilizing a pre-programmed advance curve in the CDI Box, and a pickup coil at the flywheel for far more accurate and consistent timing than a cam driven system. No more worries about camchain tension/stretch or worn and sticky Mechanical Advance Units affecting your timing and you can remove rotational weight from the camshaft – all good things! (Requires HHB STAGE 1 to be installed – NOT Compatible with any other Charging Systems) Fits ALL XS650′ Engines, XS1, XS2
- STAGE 3 – HHB Charging AND CDI Ignition System: This is the EXACT Same CDI System we’ve been selling for years, just updated with MOSFET Technology Regulator, Updated Mounting System, and a bunch of other small touches that make install easier. Combined with its own internal 200W Charging System for a more compact design with less moving parts than other ignition systems. And best of all, you CAN run totally battery-less if you so choose. Just use a capacitor in place of the battery and you are good to go! If you would like to run a battery (or have to, due to local laws) then wire it just the same using a battery. Options are good, and you get the option of both with the this system. The ignition gets its power from Source Coils on the stator, so even if the regulator was unplugged or your battery dies, the engine will still run. Great system, install is idiot proof, and great customer support. This the best system out there. I mean there’s something to be said when the competitors install instructions tell you to go by Hughs. The only problem I have with it is the description does not say anything about it not working with 81-83 factory ignition systems.

Bought the original PMA kit, and with a quick email to Hugh was upgraded to the MOSFET Regulator (now standard) in the kit. Easy install and haven’t had any problems after 3+ years of operation. Great way to bring the old bike to the 21st century and simplify the charging system.

received My CDI/PMA (which was on backorder) delivered to Western Australia in half the time Hugh said it would take, the system install was easy with the supplied manual, I was blown away when i put the timing light on the bike and it was running and timed perfect out of the box, great work putting together a high quality kit, (i since broke the stator plate and pickup when the bike fell off the lift) so now I can attest that Hugh’s after purchase service is second to none. cant recommend Hugh’s hand-built enough.

Installed this on a 1977 chopper build about 5 years ago. If you are new to wiring or an old pro this is the simplest most user-friendly pma ever. I ran a kick only with capacitor left the starter just in case it wasn’t as good as advertised. Never let me down fires first kick every time can’t say enough about how good it is. A++ in my book.
